Her parents, immigrants from South Korea, faced numerous challenges in their journey to become U.S. citizens. From a young age, Esther played a pivotal role in assisting her family and community members with their immigration journeys, earning the title of the go-to person for immigration matters at her church.

Esther’s passion for immigration law led her to pursue a Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University. She further honed her skills in immigration law at the University of Puerto Rico Law School and gained invaluable experience through fellowships at Equal Justice Works of America and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Her dedication to serving the immigrant community is evident through her extensive work with indigent clients and her advocacy for immigrants’ rights.
